The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park fosters understanding of the life and work of Ernest Hemingway, with emphasis on his Oak Park origins and his impact on world literature. Its mission reflects the Foundation's belief in the importance of the written word and the value of thoughtful reading and writing.
Our complete Mission Statement
In its twenty year history the Foundation has evolved from a literary society to a multi faceted organization that manages property (the Museum, Birthplace Home and Boyhood Home) offers tours of the birthplace and museum, and reaches out to the public through reading groups, lectures and colloquiums. We also manage several important Hemingway Collections such as the Marcelline Hemingway Sanford Collection, the Woods Archives and the Frank Laurence Collection.
More about our history
The growing number of properties and sophistication of our operations increases our need for financial support from the community and the Hemingway world. Your thoughtful gift and generosity will help us meet our annual operating expenses, build better educational programs for the public, assist scholars working on Hemingway and begin the task of restoring the Ernest Hemingway Boyhood Home.
